Regardless of the field or role, Jon’s work has focused on helping teams challenge assumptions, see a clear path forward, and make progress together.

As Vice President for Student Life at a university in Portland, Oregon, Jon partners with students, faculty, and staff to create a compelling, equitable, and inclusive environment that leads to student belonging and success. In addition to supporting teams including residence life, campus ministries, student leadership and multicultural programs, academic success, student success and retention, counseling, disabilities resources, housing and meal plans, and athletics, Jon has facilitated grant applications and coordinated planning and implementation of the university’s strategic plan.

Before his work in higher education, Jon spent time in journalism and marketing. He served for more than a decade in Residence Life and as Dean of Students at other institutions prior to joining the community in his current role.

Jon’s doctoral research focused on understanding how senior leadership teams lead change in complex, adaptive environments. Outside of work, Jon enjoys time with his wife and three young boys and buying or checking out more non-fiction books than he’ll ever be able to read.

Jon holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Azusa Pacific University, a M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Sociology from Texas Christian University.
