When I was studying journalism at TCU, we learned that the best pictures include both data and drama. To communicate well, you must tell a story that shares both information and emotion.
Followers of Jesus Christ hold the most powerful and relevant message ever given. But somehow, we’ve often failed to get the message across individually and as a group in a way that sticks (or even causes people to ask questions).
We lean too much on data, trying to convince people our way is right, and in the process, sometimes forget that God gave humans emotions as well as logic. That Jesus told stories more than he preached three-point sermons.
It’s times like this we can actually learn from a place like Hollywood. Check out this video by Sarah McLachlan here. It’s a great message, and it’s presented in a way that gets your attention.
