Church marketing: nets vs. bait

Ben Arment has some good thoughts about ministry method over on his blog…

Bait-and-switch church marketing:

“I was thinking about how many of today’s churches use ‘lures‘ to ‘fish for men.’ Fishing has evolved since Jesus’ day. The disciples used nets, which didn’t require ‘bait’ or ‘beckoning.’ Rather, they went to where the fish were. Sometimes they came back with no fish to show for their efforts. But one thing’s for certain… There were no misunderstandings… no bait-and-switch… no angry fish.”
