How did Jesus redeem the practices around him when he walked on this earth?

It was interesting to discuss and hear specific examples of how Jesus lived within the powers and practices of his time but also took bold steps to reform the expectations and challenge the processes people had become used to. He didn’t challenge everything, but instead supported some things people did and challenged others.

In looking at the practice of politics, my group had interesting discussions about how this applies. Jesus announced a new kingdom where the greatest are least and the least are greatest. It seems counter-intuitive, but the truth is, human power is oppressive. When  we submit ourselves to Christ’s rule, we come under a power that is perfect, true and life giving.
