Thursday quotage: church as business, life as practice, and missional theologians

A few quotes I’ve been thinking about…

  • “Maybe if we stopped talking about and treating church like it’s a business, non-Christians would stop acting like we are trying to sell them a bag of goods.”Shaula Overholt
  • “I want to study less and live more, so my teaching is less theoretical and more experiential.”Mark Batterson at the Buzz Conference (via)
  • “We are asking God to transform us into a worshiping community of missional theologians.”Dan Kimball, speaking of Vintage Faith Church (interview with him here)

  1. mark’s quote is semi-unsettling. I understand what he’s saying. Yet as a teacher/preacher I want him to live and dig deep into God’s word.

  2. I agree with RC about Mark’s quote. I personally believe I can’t live life to it’s fullest unless I am feasting at the master’s table.
